Exploring the being of knowing

There is Philosophy., and then there is Philosophy.

The more I see, and the more I know, it is not I realize that there is less that I know, but that we just keep repeating what we know with different words .

Just like every other category, there is philosophy that is the thing itself, and then there are what I call “philosophy of…” philosophy.

The infamous Danish philosopher, and purported father is existentialism, Soren, Kierkegaard noticed this. Because he didn’t have access by the ideology of his time, that is, the world of “word semantics”, or what the namer of Postmodern Jean-Francois Lyotard called “phrase universes” , to the meaning of a thing itself beyond Kantian framing, he called this oddity “irony”.

Nonetheless, he called the ‘one side‘ of this irony interesting.

See I say it is the “philosophy of…” philosophy that modern Acedamia is primarily interested in what is interesting. What Kierkegaard called ethical. Which is to say, how to I meaningfully negotiate things so either me or only me and what I care about, or the greater humanity, survive.

There’s much more to be said in this arena, but I’ll just leave it there for now.

Have a fabulous Wednesday.

About this blog

Essays in mental health philosophy—less “tips,” more why things work (or don’t). I look at the first principles under therapy, psychiatry, psychology, and everyday life, and occasionally share notes from papers and books-in-progress.

This space stands alongside—not inside—my counseling practice. If you’re seeking therapy in Colorado, there’s a link in the footer.
