Political human life.

Hello. I feel like I made a really good point in my last post, so I wanted to make another post to emphasize it !

Human life is not something that exists outside of the political domain. Which is just to say, in so much as we have a government, and in so much as we have this good functioning United States government, there is no human life outside of its political arena. And this is to say: law.

Now, I am the last philosopher to say that everything is political. That all we’re dealing with is politics. No.

However, the reason why I don’t feel I need a gun is because I feel safe enough under our government such that if I have an argument with someone I don’t have to worry about them killing me over it. Or me them.

That’s it. That’s politics. At root, there is nothing more than that basic fact. I don’t wanna have to carry a gun and defend myself whenever I go outside my house, or even if I’m in my house because someone might want my house. Governance, and particularly the United States government, is good because I can’t kill someone just because I disagree with them.

Yes, yes, there is all the social stuff too..

But the abortion, women’s health, issue is being made around life and health, more so around the sanctity of human life.

And I am saying that I thank God that I don’t get to kill someone just because I disagree with them. The reason I don’t get to is because of our government; in this sense, life has nothing to do with some essential quality of being human, Which is to say, some quality of being human that exists outside of governance.

If you want to argue the case with me, then that’s philosophy. Without governments you’re gonna start having a philosophical argument with me and I’m gonna pull out my gun and shoot you because I don’t wanna hear your opinion or argue or discuss with you about what some sort of essential valuable human life might be. Because I already know what it is, and if you have a different opinion then I’m gonna kill you. Why not? There is no policing body to prevent me in any way. I would sustain my ideal by removing every other, including what it is to be human and what it’s life is.

Now, I’m just making a point. I am not going to further the philosophical route to say that I’m ethical because of government. I’m saying that government has to do with securing of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and the general welfare, and all that Constitution stuff.

I’m saying, life, human life, is what we are when we’re doing stuff involved with other human beings. And if we would bring the issue of abortion back to this basic fact, and not bring in what people believe health is or life is, then the decision would be so clear.

Ethics, and my personal values about the sanctity of human life is my personal values. in other words, it is my religion. And government should not step into my personal religious views so long as they don’t interfere in another persons ability to pursue their own life.

If a fetus is interfering in my life and my ability to pursue my values and my beliefs, then ultimately it’s doing it through its mom at least, at minimum. And so whatever value that the fetus might have so far as a human life, is ultimately a religious ethical argument.

We need to write a better law. And not make it upon whether or not a fetus is a human life and deserves rights.

Individual communities can do that. We have to get clear on what is actually happening, if we are going to ever get anywhere towards some sort of “inalienable rights“ as an essence.

Abortion! Row: Write a better law.

Roe v. Wade has been sent to the states, I guess. And will be up for vote in the ballots later this year, I guess.

These debates over abortion, I feel, are about religious belief. The arguments that are being made about women’s health are really taking shape around the battle of religious belief, rather than about governance.

First off, the very idea of “inalienable rights” is it self a legal position. There is no such thing as in an alienable right that people are born with essentially; An inalienable right is a right that our government afford citizen people under the law.

It could be that people think an inalienable right is actually something we are born with as human beings regardless of governance, and that could be why no one wants to call out The fact that people are taking the religious position under the guise of science in women’s health — because then that might open up the inevitable insecurity about those people who believe that inalienable rights are not something that government gives us.

Question for those people: What good is an inalienable right if you don’t have the power to keep people from killing you over it?

It’s the inherent irony of religious belief.

However, if we keep governance about trying to keep the peace, and not about the religious questions of what life is or when it begins, then the decision becomes clear: Life is what we do when we’re living with other people.

The problem is that people are arguing about what is life, and not debating about whether or not people will kill each other over this. No one wants to talk about how we are killing people by making them have babies that they don’t wanna have. Because that would have to require of American citizens a little bit too much reflection upon their own ideas of belief and the ramifications of it in real world.

I feel like it’s an elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about. I don’t hear it anywhere. The discussion is about science, or about life. I’m not sure whether these things have anything to do with governance or law in the United States.

I think it’s obvious that people who are pro life are trying to push through a religious agenda because they feel that the United States is a Christian country, or at least a 10 Commandments fairing country.

Perhaps that is an overgeneralization, but it seems all this bickering over Roe versus Wade and women’s rights is really missing the issue of abortion and government in the United States.

The role of government is to mediate between Parties so we don’t kill each other.

Aside from that argument, though, I think the pro-life position really is one which says that all human life is valuable, and so as soon as a fetus is conceived in the womb, it is a human life, and so is valuable, and so is protected under the United States government.

To me, pro-life movement seems like a pipe dream that doesn’t want to face the reality of the situation. They take their religious ideals and then find “science“ which appears to agree with it and support it under the notions of women’s health and etc…

It’s as if they wear blinders to the truth of the reality of the situation of pregnancy. It really is like saying that if someone ended up pregnant then it’s because God deemed that this human being should be allowed to continue to live, and that human beings shouldn’t interfere with that life or else it is murder.

…it’s utterly a religious issue in that respect.

For sure, though, I feel that there should be more resources, mental health, physical health, financial, education, etc. for people in general, let alone would be mothers. Yes, that’s true. Yes we should.

But to make people who end up pregnant continue with their pregnancy by virtue of the fact that they got pregnant, is really just saying that they got pregnant because they are immoral or irresponsible. And in this country, don’t you know, we think that people should be responsible for their actions.

Again, that’s an ethical question, that’s a religious question, because it doesn’t deal with the reality that more people are getting pregnant every day than any pro lifer advocate would want to admit, And getting pregnant more often than any sort of mental health or social system could help to absorb.

I agree, actually, that the question should be put to the states. I think that is the issue of the law, beyond the “inalienable rights” to health issue. The law was not written in such a way to be full-proof, and I think that’s what the Supreme Court is making notice of. So they are returning it to the states, basically, telling everyone that they need to write a better law if we are going to make this right of citizens in the United States to control their own bodies.

When you hear that the brian of people diagnosed with schizophrenia are different than normal brains, you should be sceptical. For your own sake.

The question is not about that brains might be different, but what normal means in relation to the term “schizophrenia”.

The issue is not of normalcy but of being human and the finality that such a “not normal” brain is being associated with, and for what purpose such finality is being pronounced.

Are you mentally ill? What, exactly, does that mean?

Well, the psychiatrists and psychologists don’t know either. What does that say about what is happening?

The True Purpose of Hospitals.

As anyone who has even worked in a hospital knows, hospitals are actually waste generation facilities that help people as a nice by-product.

Medicine for profit amounts to waste. The money that is made from illness is not made from the caring for or healing of the sick; on the contrary, the money is made through the generation of waste. I’m a very non-Marxist manner, profit is the collection of wasted product generated by the exploitation of the fear that accompanies sick people.

Being Really Mentally Healthy

Here is my question about health in general.

Because my teeth are not quite shining white, does that mean that my teeth are not healthy?

Here’s another one.

Because I can barely run 50 yards without getting totally winded, does that mean that I’m not healthy?

And, just one more for good measure.

If I only have one friend, does that mean that I am not healthy?

I’m going to put this link on here, not because I am trying to promote this product, but because this product is part of a marketing campaign that has to do with a certain ideal of mental health that I question deeply.

Always mind. Is a catchy little phrase to promote mental health, I imagine, come up with against the colloquialism “never mind”.

And, keep in mind that I am also not necessarily saying that I don’t agree with the ideal behind this marketing campaign, nor am I saying that you should not buy their products or should not agree with the general push of their message.

For sure, there is an idealism which places me along a continuum from unhealthy to healthy, and where I am placed upon that line is less important than I do place myself there in the reckoning of my quality of life and mental health.

My problem with that way of knowing is that I question idealistic promotions, whether they be about my health, whether they be about my talent, my personality, my happiness, my place of living, etc.

When it comes to mental health, because I’m a counselor, I am often thinking less about some idealistic state of mental health, and more about people who are actually suffering from mental health issues.

If you can follow my line of reasoning here: my teeth may be yellow and I may have a couple fillings, but they are far from unhealthy. And this, even though I can talk about how my teeth are not as healthy as, say, my dentist would want them to be or that they should be if I would’ve been a good little boy and brushed my teeth and floss after every meal or at least twice a day throughout my life.

There are two things going on here. One is that yes there is an ideal of health that I surely fall into with reference to what is unhealthy.

Yet, when it comes to my mental health I am not sure that putting me into such a scheme is healthy for my mental health.

Yes, there are people for whom it is very healthy to place themselves in the scheme of mental health and to strive towards some idealistic presentation of being mentally healthy, whatever that is. But, I would say that those people for the most part who enjoy or otherwise are able to fit themselves into such a scheme such that it works for them, I would say that they are already mentally healthy and they don’t really need to worry about their mental health.

At least, for those people if I am helping them with their mental health, I would hardly say that they have any sort of mental health issue except that they have some notion that they want to be “better mentally healthy”.

When I think of mental health I think of it in the context of what could be wrong. Sure, there is the fad of a sort of “positive psychology” which would beg to differ with my estimation, but then I would beg to differ that the very idea of a positive psychology is based on an inflated idea that something could go very wrong with my mental health. So, there’s that useless argument.

What I mean then is that if someone is asking for help, for mental health therapy, it is because something is off, something is wrong.

If I’m going to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned, yes I’m going for my dental health, but I don’t have any dental health issues under the premise that I’m going to get my teeth cleaned. I go to the dentist and I get a cavity filled because something is wrong with my dental health. However, once I have achieved a certain state of dental health, say that five of my teeth have been extracted, two others have fillings in them, one is a crown, my mouth is no longer Dentally unhealthy, despite that I am missing and I have damaged many of them, or in comparison to people that have shiny full set of teeth. My teeth in my mouth are dentally healthy. And so I’m not really sure why I would say a reference my mouth to a dental health except in as much as I was worried about some thing that is going wrong, but more pointedly: in so much as I might have to go to the dentist, it is because something has gone wrong.

At least, this is my point of view as a counselor.

Physical health is not the same as mental Health, because it doesn’t matter what I think about my finger being broken for my finger to be physically unhealthy.

And yet for me to think that my mind might be broken and that it needs to be fixed, may just well aggravate and perpetuate the problem to a mental disorder.

So it is that I have issues with an idealistic Notion of mental health.

In a kind of structuralist manner, I am healthy only to the extent and with reference to the potential for me to be unhealthy. Therefore. There is no necessity for me to worry about being mentally healthy if I am effective in living my life. So it is that to be concerned with my mental health, what past incarnations called “mental hygiene”, is itself a kind of mental issue, what we could say is a sort of institutional neurosis.xx

The Global Hospice

Passion and compassion.

Reality and truth.

Philosophy and anthropology.

Either/or and And.

These are counter-partial horizontally, and correlational vertically, at least in this post.

  WE ARE ABLE to contemplate significant relationships With things other than human beings. And, Yes, a human being is also a universal object.

And, it is also a subject. Modern subjectivity is the current ideological formulation of being in the world, otherwise known as the global religion. This is the case such that any argument which would bring rebuttal or exception to the statement merely argues that what it’s arguing against is the case; in other words, any rebuttal to the statement is telling us that it is a modern subject. At that, involved with an alienation from itself. 

This is not wrong or incorrect, nor does it indicate merely a condition that we must reject, otherwise known as contradiction. It merely shows us some thing that is true of the universe. It is true of the universe; it must be true simply by the basic definition of what we understand is true, and regardless of how we define the notion of truth, because of the condition I just stated. That is, any rebuttal to it merely exemplifies the case it is trying to dispel. This is a truth, and it is a truth under a particular condition, and we call this condition modern.

To decide upon different terms, and define those new terms in different ways in relation to the term that is supposedly indicating something that is problematic or that is in need of changing or adjusting, is what we know of as the modern theological apology That we call postmodern.

We have the parameters of our condition. Because we can identify parameters truly, we are able to identify an object that arises in the universe.

From a subjective standpoint, which is to say, from the unreflective condition of being where a human arises to its occasion in the world to use its intellect for skillful application, and only use during that moment of living, Life is supposed to be, and it is indeed demanded by the individual involved with a passionate existence.

Such passion is particularly individual. It is particularly self-serving. It is possible therefore to define the global situation of humanity, in a general sense, as the negotiation between individuals. And, it is due to this orientation upon universal things, that is, the subjective or phenomenal orientation upon things, that’s the problem in the relationship  with the world is occurring. In other words, it is the and self righteous proclamations and assertions of self-centeredness upon the world which evidences the dysfunction that is our current global situation. Pandemic, post truth, social discord, etc. arise because of this particular manifestation of the human being it’s relationship with the world.

And, somewhat unfortunately, the head or leading proponent of such cosmology is philosophy itself.  it is an orientation upon the transcendent spirit of the human being as the designator an arbiter of all things, such that anything which arises in the world is understood to be arising only within the human being itself. And the problems with this orientation are manifest. 

Anthropology is the honest look at Real universal objects. And due to the constraints which confront our conceptions, and inform our perceptions, the way forward must be compassion. Less the self righteous imposition of propriety upon oneself, as well the grace given to others for their self righteousness, we need compassion for the passionate exercise of excess.

Going forward we should see ourselves in global hospice. 

 Folks, we are dying.

More Evidence which Rejects that there is an Actual Universal Individual Responsibility for Action

Whiteness relies upon the concept of an essential individual which makes free ethical choices.

Systemic racism posits that (1) those in power always find individual justification after the fact, and always thus claim individual responsibility with reference to systemic justification (redundancy); (2) true responsibility arises in the interruption of such ontological redundancy.

Presently, no universally justified individual exists outside of ideological control.

This is not a human constant; rather, it is the particular situation in which we find ourselves.

What is human is still left to be discovered. This is the true teleology of the philosopher.

Is there a teleological suspension of the systemic ?

[note: what we do and think in the regular-everyday calm in our day is referenced by what we resort to when we are in distress. The separation is ideological, and not ontological .]
