There is no accounting for intelligence in the midst of irrational belief.
What can I do to take responsibility for my own anxieties?
Buy a gun?
Run people off the road?
Pray?
Know that there is no such thing as sanity?
Lol
Hope.

Although I am more partial to Foucault’s position on sanity and mental illness, one of my favourite quotes from Freud is ‘Every normal person, in fact, is only normal on the average. His ego approximates to that of the psychotic in some part or other and to a greater or lesser extent’.
We often forget that ‘normal’ is not a claim of stasis but rather the seeking of a fluid equilibrium and with constant deviation therefrom.
DISCLAIMER: I don’t agree with much of what Freud says, but some quotes make for interesting conversation.
