A discourse of Self Reflection.
The opening that Latour calls for seems to reverberate in This critique. Types of capitalism is implied of the enlightened modern agent, so it seems sensible for an identity that cannot be relieved of itself through itself, to thus look at itself. Identity is always political, so we look there.
The political also understands itself within the self-constituting faith that is the ideology of, within and for which an identity sees its identity as complete in its own limitation. The passionate activity involved in this kind of Reflection is indeed the Enlightened Modern agent. So it is good: Communication within a common arena always contains an ability to overcome failures. This is how an intrinsic mythology remains viable: through compulsive investment in its material.
